Thank you for your patience as we continue to roll out registration for all of our exciting competitions. Up next is one of our most honored cultural showcases: the Dhia Qeej Competition.
The art of playing the Qeej has been passed down for generations, originating in regions of China, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand. Today, it remains a powerful symbol of Hmong identity and tradition. As the Hmong community has expanded across the world, especially in the United States, so has the commitment to preserve, practice, and evolve this sacred art form.
At this year’s Eau Claire Hmong New Year, we invite Qeej players of all ages to step forward and share your talent. Competitors will be judged on technical skill, rhythm, melody, and their ability to perform traditional movements with precision and control. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or a passionate learner, this is your moment to showcase the beauty and strength of our cultural roots.
